Key Market Issues
Kable’s survey shows that a large proportion of Austrian enterprises favour on-premise deployments compared to hosted services. Enterprises with strict legislation and compliance regulations tend to choose on-site deployment as they require full control over confidential data and processes.

During the current economic uncertainty, enterprises’ focus is very much on identifying additional revenue opportunities, whilst at the same time cutting costs to enhance profitability; which is evident from the survey where Austrian enterprises rate the objective of ‘improve supplier relationships’ at the lower end of the scale.

IT objectives related to ‘using IT to support revenue growth’ has relatively lower importance with Austrian enterprises, with only X% of enterprises identifying it as top priority.

Austrian enterprises rate the selection factors ‘specific functionality expertise/depth’ and ‘price’ to be the most important criteria, with average ratings of X on the scale of 1 to 4.

A large proportion of Austrian enterprises state that their ICT infrastructure is either somewhat complex or very complex, indicating the demand for managed services.

Austrian enterprises are placing high importance on the business objective of raising efficiency, giving it an average rating of X on a scale of 1 to 4.

The survey shows that the IT objectives of ‘demonstrate the value of IT to the business’ and ‘deliver new functionality to business users’ are the most important factors influencing IT investment strategy amongst Austrian enterprises, with average ratings of X on a scale of 1 to 4.

Austrian enterprises consider leading edge technology to be an important criterion in selecting an ICT provider. This is evident from the survey, where enterprises assign this factor a rating of X on a scale of 1 to 4.

Austrian enterprises rate the CIO as the most influential authority when making ICT purchasing decisions, with the highest average rating of X on a scale of 1 to 4, followed by the CFO/Finance Director (X) and the CEO (X).

Kable’s survey reveals that the percentage of respondents buying technologies from local resellers is higher in Austria (X%), compared to other European countries such as Belgium (X%) and the Netherlands (X%).
